MY SPECIALTIES

LSVT LOUD Certified Clinician

I have been a Lee Silverman Voice Therapy certified clinician since 2017. LSVT LOUD is a therapy program designed for people with Parkinson's Disease along with other diseases such as PSP, cerebral palsy, etc. I have also successfully used it with children with DiGeorge Syndrome.

Myofascial Release for Speech, Swallowing, and Voice

Myofascial Release is a form of manual therapy in which pressure is applied to an area of perceived tension with the hands. The hands are then moved slowly with the intention of reducing muscle and fascial tension and relieving pain and tension. I received training in 2018, and this treatment technique became the focus of my Capstone project for my Clinical Doctorate degree, as I investigated the effect of manual therapy on attention and memory.

Head and Neck Cancer

I have worked with a number of head and neck cancer patients, ranging from brain cancer to laryngeal cancer. I have used a number of successful treatment techniques, from traditional swallowing therapy to manual therapy for improving swallowing and speech function.

Traumatic Brain Injury

I have had the pleasure of working with a number of individuals who have had a traumatic brain injury. I try to find out the interests of each individual I am working with, and create my therapy plan around those interests for the most benefit possible.

Accent Intelligibility Training

I am now offering accent intelligibility training to assist those who wish to improve the clarity of their English. No physician prescription is required; just the desire to improve the ability to clearly communicate in English.

Stroke

The focus of my career has been the medical setting, and I have extensive experience working with individuals who have had strokes. There can be a wide range of deficits, from swallowing, to speech, to aphasia, to cognitive linguistic disorders. Whatever the difficulty the person is having, I cater my approach to meet the individual needs of the person I am working with to ensure that he or she meets the goals we have agreed upon in the most efficient manner possible.

Birth to Three Population

I have experience working with children ages birth through three years old as well in the outpatient therapy setting. Some of the children I have worked with have included diagnoses of fetal alcohol syndrome, prenatal drug exposure, Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and those with feeding and swallowing issues. I make it a point to find out what the family's needs are, and work with the family to best incorporate therapy in the day to day lives of the children I am working with.

School Age Children

Whether the child's difficulty is a speech sound error, difficulty using language to communicate, or the child has more complex needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder or DiGeorge Syndrome, I try to keep things fun and interesting through games and each child's interests.
